About Anthem Arizona
Anthem is a beautiful, master-planned residential development situated on a large, picturesque parcel of land nestled next to the town of New River, Arizona. The community is still relatively young, having been completed in 1999, and is home to about 40,000 residents. Anthem is considered a suburb of Phoenix, the bustling metropolis and state Capital that is located 34 miles to the south. Although Anthem is currently an unincorporated community, the City of Phoenix has formal plans in place to annex the area by 2020, which at that time will make Anthem part of the City of Phoenix.
Anthem, Arizona real estate features dramatic, sweeping mountain vistas and gorgeous desert views. There are plenty of outstanding golf, hiking and other recreational opportunities available to residents of Anthem, which has been named among the best places to live in Arizona by Phoenix Magazine and the best place to raise a family by Parenting Magazine in November of 2003. The community of Anthem also now boasts its own high school, Boulder Creek High School, and Interstate 17 conveniently connects the community to the rest of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Arizona Department of Transportation has plans to widen I-17 from Loop 101 to Anthem Way. When completed in 2009, the road work will make Anthem, Arizona real estate even more attractive to prospective home buyers.
Anthem also includes the community commonly called Anthem at Merril Ranch, a similarly master-planned community being developed by Del Webb near Queen Creek and located southeast of Phoenix. Modeled after the success of the original Anthem community, the newer version is designed to be a largely self-sufficient residential community, outfitted with a mix of residential and commercial development along with ample recreational amenities. It builds upon the successful Anthem name brand that Del Webb has developed, along with an Anthem community in Colorado.
Anthem at Merril Ranch will also be home to Sun City Anthem, an age-restricted retirement community and another addition to Del Webb’s growing lineup of highly successful Sun City communities.
